About Us

WHAT WE DO

Pastor Training Schools

Our training schools utilize The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI)’s curriculum from World Impact. Classes meet in churches around the country once a week for 16 weeks, covering modules ranging Biblical Studies, Theology and Ethics, Christian Ministry, and Urban Mission. For more information about the curriculum, visit the World Impact website.

Students pay $25 in tuition to ensure that they are personally invested learning the information and committed to regular attendance. The necessary books and resources are all loaded onto tablets, which saves hundreds on books and shipping for each person. Students return tablets to the school at the end of the course.

This model empowers pastors in remote areas to learn biblical truths and, in turn, correct decades of false teaching in their communities. It removes financial and locational challenges of traditional Seminary Courses. Graduates also earn a certificate that the Kenyan Government has made mandatory for churches over the last few years.

God has spread this ministry like wildfire, and started training schools beyond Kenya into Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Zambia, and Malawi.

As of September 2023 we have graduated 549 pastors and 206 are currently enrolled.

“A friend directed me to Maqor, and when I began the course, I was not yet a pastor, but I loved evangelism. When I went on a mission, I was prayed for to become a pastor. January 8, 2023 was our first Sunday and we had 3 members.

Now [in August, 2023] we praise God because we have 42 members.”

Maqor Churches

Many of the graduates of Maqor Pastor Training Schools continue at their own churches after completing the program, but some start brand new churches. Seven have chosen to take the name Maqor as a commitment to the simple biblical truths they’ve learned. They serve under the covering of Bishop Boaz Masinde.

The average size congregation is between 50 and 100 members. Over 200 churches are benefiting from TUMI Certified Pastors making the reach exceed 10,000 persons in our first 5 years of operation.

WHERE WE STARTED

Founders

Maqor Ministries began as an act of obedience to God for Susannah and Scott Salmans in 2015. God has blessed them abundantly in many ways throughout their lives. First in the gift of faith in a loving and gracious God that gave them salvation and a desire to share that faith with others as He directs. God has also blessed them with 7 children and now another son by marriage that also share their love of God and His plan for their lives.

Finally, God has blessed them with businesses and other financial blessings that they desire to share with others through evangelical ministries that proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. God is the source, the well spring of all they have to share. Maqor is a Hebrew word that expresses the well spring source meaning.

A dear friend once said that if it is His will, it is His bill. Meaning God provides the means by which to carry out the projects they undertake in obedience to His will.

Maqor's Reach

Over the years Scott has served in advisory or chair roles that God has put in his path to contribute, both monetarily and as project leader.

Care-Net of Central Texas was in need of a new guest home and headquarters facility where Scott served as the campaign chair for the $4.6 Million project and then eventually served on their board as Chairman for the last 3 years of his tenure.

Dugit Ministries is based in Tel Aviv Israel as an evangelical coffee house and food pantry to the poor. Scott served on the USA advisory board and assisted in $1 Million campaign for building purchase and remodel.

The focus of Maqor USA has been centered on Maqor Ministries Kenya/East Africa since 2017 as our own self operated ministry. Since meeting our African Director, Boaz Simiyu Masinde of Nairobi Kenya, in Lancashire England God has been orchestrating a ministry to train and equip Pastors in Biblical Training Schools in Kenya and beyond.
